[UK] MRes and PhD Studentships in Chemical Biology, Chemical Biology Centre

The Chemical Biology Centre, a joint venture of Imperial College London, The Institute of Cancer Research and the London Research Institute of Cancer Research UK, is seeking 9 postgraduate students starting in October 2007 to work on a series of related problems in quantitative chemical/molecular biology. PhD students will qualify for a funded Masters in Research (MRes) in Protein Membrane Chemical Biology after their first year, which is followed by three more years of funded research leading to a PhD.

There are a variety of possible projects including:

  • Lipidation in retinal disease: applying chemistry to proteomics
  • “Smart” molecular networks to unravel cell signalling.
  • Supramolecular receptors as chemical sensors for phosphorylated species
  • “Smart” Supramolecular Polymers for Gene Delivery
  • Investigating AAA Protein Function: Design Synthesis and Application of Peptide Chemical Genetic Tools
  • Reactive Intermediates in Membrane Proteins Studied by 2DIR.
  • The Physical and Chemical Modification of Single Cancer Cells for Protein Analysis
  • Investigating the Physical Chemistry of Novel Large Protein Complexes in Cancer Cells
  • The Physical and Chemical Modification of Single Cancer Cells for Protein Analysis
