[Germany] PhD in Cognitive Neuroscience – RWTH Aachen University


The Central Service Facility Functional Imaging at the Medical Faculty of the RWTH Aachen University (Aachen, Germany) is looking for a highly motivated PhD student. Applicants should have a degree in Biophysics, Biology, Psychology, Medicine, or another related degree. Experience in neuroimaging methods (fMRI, TMS) would be of advantage.

The research project is dedicated to studying the neurofunctional production processes of literary texts in the human brain, in close cooperation with researchers from the fields of computer science and literature.

Neuroimaging at the RWTH Aachen University is done in a multiprofessional team with a strong focus on MR-imaging. Moreover, PET, MEG, EEG, and TMS is available. There is close cooperation with the Institute of Medicine, Research Center Jülich within the JARA brain research alliance. Extensive computing facilities are available on site and cooperation with the Science and Engineering faculties of the RWTH is encouraged. The Departments of Neuroradiology, Neurology, Psychiatry and Medical Psychology have an intensive research experience in functional brain imaging.

The position is available from November 2008. Deadline for applications is September 30th 2008. The appointment will be initially for 3 years. The position includes a salary according to TV-L 13/2 (about EUR26.100/year).
